When I started out as a first time Mom to a young dance competitor, I was overwhelmed by how much commitment this meant from me – the right costumes, abiding by the rules, creative makeup, registrations, status cards and points etc.
At last I feel I have everything under control and that I can be true help and support to my daughter at competitions.
The one thing I still find extremely difficult to organise is, the sourcing of costumes. Purchasing them from overseas is not a viable proposition for various reasons – it’s extremely pricey with our conversion, size is always an uncertainty and so is the actual quality of these costumes.
It was then that a thought occured to me – what happens to all those costumes once they have passed their used by date – once the dancers have outgrown them or are no longer required to keep them? There must be so many of them.
Us Moms have learnt that, brand new, these costumes are not cheap and the majority of them, once they are no longer needed are still almost brand new.
Surely it only makes sense to sell them, recoup some of the money and use it to put a deposit on a new one or, better still, pay cash for a stunning used one?
And so the idea for this website was born.
The website is designed to help you sell your costumes or to assist you to purchase a beautiful used one for the next competition. The contract will be between the buyer and the seller. I have not found a website like this in South Africa. You can be in the Free State, Gauteng or Natal to advertise here and you can narrow your search to any of these provinces.
My job is to put the seller in contact with the buyer. All information is confidential. All arrangements are made between the buyer and seller such as monies, postage, meeting arrangements etc.
